Cosmetologist Faces Prison Time After Unlawful Surgery

A California cosmetologist is facing criminal charges after she caused second-degree burns. She attempted to correct a tummy tuck scar with a laser, but she burnt her patient. If convicted, she could face up to six years in prison for practicing cosmetic surgery without a license.

The patient complained of pain and the smell of burning skin, but the cosmetologist simply covered the scar with a topical ointment and continued to treat the patient with the laser. The burns became infected and the patient had to seek emergency medical care.

This is why it is important to always do your research before you have any cosmetic surgery performed. A cosmetologist is not licensed to perform surgical procedures, and a qualified surgeon will be accredited by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
